Your Professional Indemnity Insurance policy renewal will brokered by BMS Group. If desired, you will also be able to secure business coverage, including Commercial General Liability insurance and Clinic/Business Package insurance, through the new, member exclusive program.
Effective 31/01/17 the Insurer for the ASMIRT Insurance Program is a leading Insurance Company within Lloyd’s of London.
Professional Indemnity insurance protects you against liability or allegations of liability for injury or damages that have resulted from a negligent act, error, omission, or malpractice that has arisen out of your professional capacity as a radiographer. Coverage is in place to pay for legal costs associated with your defence, including damages that may ensue.
The Professional Indemnity policy is issued on a "claims made" basis, meaning that the policy in place at the time that the claim is reported is the policy that will respond. If you are taking a leave of absence and do not maintain your Professional Indemnity Insurance, there will be no policy in place to respond to any potential claims, even if the incident occurred while you held coverage previously. Therefore, it is very important to continue policy coverage or place your policy in to run off if you choose to temporarily leave practice.
Please contact a program representative broker at BMS who can assist you and make any necessary changes to policy.
Specific details such as your name and personal information will not be shared with any of the regulators or associations. Aggregate claims data will be used to develop risk management resources for the program.
